July 4 Colbert Parade and Festival
Join area Democrats (Elbert County and Madison County) at this event.
Arrive 8 A. M. for parade lineup. Turn at the Breadbasket in Colbert and follow the signs.
Parade (including the live donkey mascot) begins at 9.
July 4 Bishop Park Festival and Fireworks
A summertime tradition continues each Independence Day with the annual
Star Spangled Classic at Bishop Park presented by the Athens-Clarke
County Department of Leisure Services.
This community Independence Day celebration begins at 6:00 p.m. and continues through the evening with the Little Mr. and Miss Firecracker Contest and a musical performance by the Classic City Band.
The evening culminates with a spectacular fireworks display at approximately 9:30 p.m ., weather permitting. The Star Spangled Classic is free and open to the public.
You are invited to join other CCDC members attending this event.
AthFest Please look for our table at Athfest on June 23rd. AthFest is a Music and Arts festival held each June in Downtown Athens.

Legislative Wrap Up Breakfast Save the morning of April 28th for our Legislative Wrap Up Breakfast. Keith Heard and Doug McKillip will be discussing the latest session of the Georgia Legislature. Join candidate for State Senate Mac Rawson and former Governor Roy Barnes, along with many other local and state political figures, on Thursday, September 14th at Pittard Park (near the depot) in Winterville. Tickets are only $10.00 and include delicious barbecue provided by Zeb's Barbecue in Madison County. The event starts at 6:00 pm, and is open to the public. County delegate selection caucus on Saturday, July 22, 2006. The caucus will be at the Athens Public Library at 9:30 AM.

Democratic Headquarters:
The monthly meeting of the Clarke County Democratic Committee is scheduled for the 4th Thursday, at 6:00 PM. This meeting will be at the new CCDC Headquarters located at 494 Baxter Street, Suite B. We encourage everyone to attend.
Attention members: New members who were elected by the CCDC to fill a vacancy must be confirmed in their posts in the primary election, later this year. To declare candidacy for his or her specific post, the candidate must appear in person at the Board of Elections, 155 East Washington, between 9 a.m, Monday, April 24 and noon Friday, April 28, and pay a qualifying fee. If more than two candidates stand for a post, the one receiving the most votes is elected without a runoff.

Fundraising Brunch The Clarke County Democratic Committee will host a Fundraising Brunch honoring Secretary of State Cathy Cox for her hard work for the people of Athens Clarke County and the State of Georgia. The Brunch will be March 11th 12 noon at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education on the University of Georgia Campus. The program will last approximately one hour and a half. John Barrow Announces Upcoming Veterans Town Hall Tour Congressman John Barrow wants to hear from veterans across the 12th District. Starting on Tuesday, February 21st, Rep.
